SLU ENCORE! CONTINUES WITH CHAMBER ORCHESTRA CONCERT
HAMMOND -- Encore!, the Southeastern Louisiana University music department's
spring concert series, continues April 13 with a performance by the university's chamber
orchestra.
Conducted by Yakov Voldman, director of Southeastern's strings program, the orchestra
will feature two faculty members and three graduate students as soloists in works by J.S. Bach
and W.A. Mozart.
The free concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the Pottle Music Building Auditorium.
Pianist David Evenson, head of the music department, will be joined by graduate students
Kristen Kean of Lexington, Mass., flute, and Miroslav Hristov of Stara Zagora, Bulgaria, violin,
in the orchestra's performance of Bach's Brandenburg Concerto #5 in D Major. Hristov will also
be featured in Bach's Concerto in E major.
Southeastern music professor Sara Beth Hanson, flute, will be the featured soloist in
Mozart's Flute Concerto #2 in D major. Pianist Lucian Zidaru of Bucharest, Romania, will be the
soloist in Mozart's Piano Concerto #23 in A Major.
Members of the Chamber Orchestra, which includes Southeastern students and
community members, are:
Violin I: Miroslav Hristov, Alexander Reshetnichenko, Borislava Iltcheva, Dimitri
Trush, Atanaska Dulgerska, Hannah Nershi, Sandy Blanchard and Gayle Guidry.
Violin II: Liudmila Bivol, Gabriela Landa, Barbara Hornstein, John Madura, Natalia
Trush, Janell LaCroix, Robert Brown, Amy Gillan, Linda McConnell.
Viola: Jennifer Cassin, Boris Tonkov.
Cello: Karen Jung, Ivan Lalev.
