Student Affairs
Junior nursing major Lindsay Sandridge and senior
communication major Chris Buckel are student movers and shakers who make Southeastern a
better
place. Sandridge and Buckel, both of Metairie, were named "Outstanding Woman and Man of
the
Year" by the Division of Student Affairs.
"Southeastern has made such a wonderful difference in my life and I want to use my time
making it better for others," Sandridge cheerfully explained. "It's like a second family and a
second
home here." The Student Affairs committee that selected Sandridge described her as a motivator
with
strong values and morals. Sandridge is actively involved in the Greek system, assumes leadership
roles in many student organizations and participates in her church's youth retreats.
Her fellow award winner is also driven for success in every area of his life.
"Everything I get involved with, I try to excel at and do the best that I can instead of just
having my name on a roster," Buckel said. "I'm always going to want to move up and move on to
bigger and better things." People who know him say Buckel has a strong commitment to his
family
and makes friends wherever he goes. "His dedication, intelligence, and winning personality are
evident
in every project he undertakes," the committee stated. He is also very involved in the Greek
system
and has taken a special interest in the orientation program. He was selected as Orientation Leader
of
the Year.
