PROJECT RENEW OFFERS FREE TEACHER CERTIFICATION
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University's Project ReNew is offering
Livingston teachers an opportunity to receive free special education certification.
Project ReNew is a federal grant designed to increase the quantity and quality of certified
special education teachers for students with mild to moderate disabilities.
Along with free tuition, teachers will receive a 250 dollar stipend per semester and fast
track certification in special education in four semesters. Participating schools will receive
educational resources, in conjunction with a partnership among collaborating universities and
regional parish schools.
Participants must be certified teachers in general education employed by the Livingston
Parish School Board and willing to take six hours each semester on the Southeastern campus.
Interested teachers must apply by November 13, 2000 and classes begin January 16,
2001. Space is limited. For further information about Project ReNew, please contact program
