PROJECT RETURN DEVELOPER TO SPEAK AT SOUTHEASTERN
HAMMOND -- Robert E. Roberts, developer of Project Return at Tulane University's
School of Public Health, will give a free lecture at Southeastern Louisiana University at 6:30 p.m.,
November 17 in the Student Union Theatre.
Project Return was created to work with former offenders and assist their efforts to
re-integrate into free society, giving them a valuable and viable alternative to their previous life
style and decreasing the crime rate.
Roberts, who conducted research at a medium security adult male prison in Louisiana,
concluded that the inability of former convicted offenders to get their lives restarted was a major
contributing factor to the soaring crime and recidivism in Louisiana.
Recognized in 1995 by the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Project Return is now a cost
effective correctional option program that reduces reliance on incarceration and provides
treatment and services to assist former offenders in the pursuit of lawful and productive conduct.
For more information on the lecture contact Michael Hackett at 549-5546.
