INDUSTRIAL PROSPECT SEMINAR OCT 13
     HAMMOND -- Approximately 100 business and community leaders will listen to the
 Do s and Don ts of Industrial Prospect Hosting  during an Oct. 13 training seminar hosted by
the Florida Parishes Economic development Association.
     The event, held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Southeastern Louisiana University s University
Center, is co-sponsored by Entergy Corp. And SLU s Small Business Development Center. 
      We are excited about this seminar because the Florida Parishes region is a growing area
of the state and our community and business leaders should be formally trained on what to do
when a prospect or consultant calls,  FPEDA President Charles R. McKaskle said.
     Congressman Richard Baker of Louisiana s Sixth District will address the group at 9:30
a.m. and SLU President Sally Clausen will serve as keynote speaker during the luncheon. 
Conducting the Prospect Hosting Training will be John M. Lovorn, Jr., CED, President of The
PACE Group, inc.  The PACE Group specializes in consulting for communities and businesses
in economic development.
     Prospect Housing training is offered through Entergy s Team City Program and provides
economic development assistance to communities, Louisiana Entergy Economic Development
Director Jim Hendricks and Entergy Account Executive Connie Couvillion will provide
coordination and registration assistance.
      This type of seminar is critical for local community leaders to understand the process of
how business locations are chosen,  said Bill Joubert, who directs SLU s small Business
Development Center.

     The training seminar also includes a golf tournament at 2:30 p.m. at Franklinton Country
Club.  Cost for the seminar and lunch is $15 per person.  A separate green fee will be charged to
those who enter the golf tournament.  Registration should be made be calling SLU s Small
