SLU ALUMNI HONOR MILLER, WELLS
HAMMOND -- The Southeastern Louisiana University Alumni Association has honored
two of its graduates with awards that recognize service to alumni and students.
At the Alumni Association's Awards Evening on Nov. 21, Robby Miler, a 1984
Southeastern graduate and former member of the Alumni Association Board, received the
Distinguished Service Award, annually presented to alumni for their contributions to the
university, the association, the community and their profession. Kelly Wells, Southeastern
assistant director of Enrollment Services, was given the L.E. Chandler Award, which recognizes
extracurricular service to students by Southeastern faculty, staff or alumni.
Miller, president of Capitol PC Warehouse, served several terms on the Alumni
Association board of directors as well as the alumni legislative committee. He also served on the
university's technology committee and the Panel to Assess the Feasibility of the Return of
Football to Southeastern. He has been active in alumni activities such as Homecoming and the
Rock 'n Roar festival.
Wells, who earned his bachelor's degree from Southeastern in1991, was advisor to Kappa
Alpha fraternity for six years and is one of the professional staff who coordinate the annual
LEAD retreat for student leaders. He also helped develop and coordinates Enrollment Services
Student Orientation Leaders program and is a member of the university's "Who's Who"
committee. A Hammond resident and Ponchatoula native, Wells is a former treasurer of the
Alumni Association and has been an active supporter of many student, athletic and alumni
activities.
