SETTOON HEADS SLU MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT
HAMMOND -- Randall P. Settoon has been named head of Southeastern Louisiana
University Department of Management.
Settoon is a Hammond native and a 1986 Southeastern graduate. A computer science
major, he received the President's Medal for the highest grade point average in the College of
Science and Technology. Settoon earned his doctoral degree from Louisiana State University in
1996, where he was a nominee for the Distinguished Dissertation Award. He earned a master's
degree in Business Administration from Southeastern in 1989. He first joined the Southeastern
faculty in 1990.
Settoon, who has had numerous articles published in academic journals and made
approximately two dozen presentations at scholarly conferences, received the Allied Academies'
"Distinguished Research Award" in 1998 and "Outstanding Paper" award in 1997.
At Southeastern, Settoon chairs the Computer Policy Committee and has been a member
of the Project LEO Web Team. He is considered one of the pioneers of the university's distance
learning initiatives and developed and delivered Southeastern's first 100 percent internet course.
In fall 1999, he presented an internet course on management to students at Reutlingen University
in Germany.
Settoon served as Southeastern's representative to the Board of Regents' Higher
Education Distance Learning Network in 1998 and regularly conducts workshops and training
sessions for faculty on developing internet courses.
