SOUTHEASTERN THEATRE PRESENTS BOGOSIAN'S "SUBURBIA"
HAMMOND Southeastern Louisiana University Theatre will present it summer all-
student production of "SubUrbia" July 26, 27 and 28 in the Vonnie Borden Theatre on the
Southeastern campus.
"SubUrbia," by Eric Bogosian, provides a dark glimpse of the American dream
reinvented by a lost group of young people who gather one fateful night to revel in their high
school glory days while drinking beer, getting high, and eating Oreos.
"As they ponder their troubled lives and relationships, the building tension between them
is accentuated with comically absurd moments combined with sheer violence," says Kay Files of
Southeastern's Music and Dramatic Arts. "As the next day dawns, some of the group have found
their way out, while the rest are left to deal with the tragedy they have caused."
"SubUrbia" is rated "R" due to very explicit language and adult themes, Files said.
Southeastern's production of "SubUrbia" is directed by theatre major Jonathan Majoue',
Baton Rouge. The all-student cast includes Daniel Trentacosta and Katherine Dufic (New
Orleans), Beth Hanson (Mandeville), Ryan Perea (Franklinton), Chad Pierce (Plaquemines), Tala
Defresne and Tiffany Long (Hammond), Joey Mack (Livingston) and Jacob Zeringue
(Bogalusa).
Daniel Thomas of Ponchatoula is the stage manager. The students will also design the set, lights,
costumes and music.
Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. performances will be available at the Vonnie Borden box office
each evening of the performances, beginning at 6:00. All tickets are $3 and are for general
seating only.
