PRE-REGISTRATION UNDERWAY FOR TARC 5K RUN 
     HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University Department of Recreational Sports
and Wellness is helping to coordinate the 3rd annual TARC 5K Run/Walk. TARC (The
Advocates of Real Choices) is a non-profit organization that helps children with disabilities.
     "We're working with TARC to try and make this year's 5K bigger and  better than any
we have had. The participation is always good, but this year is especially important because of
the 40 percent cut to the TARC budget," said recreational sports and wellness marketing graduate
assistant J.J. Mangano.
     The TARC 5K run will begin at 5:30 p.m.,  Thursday, October 14, at North Oak Park
near Southeastern's campus. There will be free food and drinks for all participants, as well as live
entertainment by popular local band, the Bromaines. Pre-Registration fees are $10 and $5 for all
SLU students.  After October 1 registration is $15, $10 for students. 
      Applications are available at the SLU Recreational Sports and  Wellness office, various
businesses in the Hammond area, the TARC offices at 201 East Church Street, and also on the
Recreational Sports Web-site at www.selu.edu/studentservices/recsports. For more information
