ANGOLA FILM "THE FARM" TO BE SHOWN AND DISCUSSED AT SLU
     HAMMOND --  The Fanfare presentation of the highly acclaimed film about Louisiana's
Angola Prison, "The Farm," will be shown at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 20, in the Student
Union Theatre. 
     The film will be followed by a panel discussion, featuring George Ashante Witherspoon,
who was one of the men profiled in the film. It is free and open to the public. 
     The film, released in 1995 and nominated for an academy award in 1999, documents the
lives of five people and their walk through Angola. 
     Southeastern staff member Michael Hackett, who conducts a ministry at Angola and
sociology professor Peggy Pittman Munke are coordinating the event. The events is
co-sponsored
by Southeastern's sociology/social work/criminal justice department.
