ADULTS CONSIDERING COLLEGE INVITED TO COLLEGE FAIR APRIL 25
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University is hosting an information fair
for adults interested in entering college, Sunday April 25, 2-4 p.m. in the Student
Union. The fair is free and open to the public.
The Time Is Now program for adults is sponsored by Southeastern's Office of
Adult, Veterans and Commuter Services. Aimed at adults returning to college and those
entering for the first time, the program guides potential students through the enrollment
process and also provides assistance and support during their college career.
"Adult students are not the same as new freshmen straight out of high school,"
said Milas Love, director of Adult, Commuter and Veterans Services. "Many of these
non-traditional students have full time jobs in addition to attending college. Some of
them have children as well, so juggling all these responsibilities can be very hard for
them. We want to let them know that not only are we here to help them enter college, but
we also have support groups and special assistance to help them succeed in their college
career."
Southeastern's Enrollment Services staff will be on hand to offer applicants easy
and convenient on site registration. To register for the summer session, applicants should
bring a copy of their 1997 tax return. Those registering for the fall should bring a 1998
tax return. Southeastern's Financial Aid office will also be available to assist in filling
out aid applications or using immediate electronic filing services.
Campus tours will also be available as well as information on programs at
Southeastern. For more information call 504-549-2313.
