SEPTEMBER PRIDE DAY SET FOR NEXT THURSDAY
United with Pride!
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University's September Pride Day event has
been set for Thursday, September 30, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the War Memorial Student Union Mall.
The Pride Day committee selected "United with Pride" as the theme to help kick off the local
United Way campaign.
The United Way of Tangipahoa Parish will join Southeastern's Pride Day by hosting an
agency fair showcasing the following local agencies: American Red Cross, Tangi Food Pantry,
Options, Elderly Protective Services, Southeast Spouse Abuse, Boys and Girls Clubs, Girl
Scouts, Council on Aging, Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), Tangipahoa Alcohol and
Drug Abuse Council (TADAC), Cancer Association, Tangipahoa Association for Retarded
Citizens (TARC) and Upgrade Tangipahoa. The agencies will be talking to students about their
services and offering volunteer opportunities.
In addition to the agency fair, retirees Ted Cason, Al Link, Barbara Anderson, Pat Settoon
and Howard Nichols will be "rocking with pride" for the United Way. They will be rocking
during the entire event, and individuals passing through the Student Union Mall can donate
money to United Way to sponsor the retirees.
ARAMARK will be selling refreshments during Pride Day, and the proceeds will benefit
the United Way. Also, Southeastern's Lionette Dance Team will perform at noon.
Southeastern students, faculty, staff, administrators and the public are invited to attend
and join in the "United with Pride" celebration. Everyone is encouraged to show their
Southeastern pride by wearing green and gold.
