SLU CONTINUING EDUCATION OFFERS RESPONSIBLE VENDOR COURSE
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University is partnering with Gideon Enterprises
to offer the Responsible Vendor Training Course, a state-mandated training session for sellers
and servers of alcohol and tobacco products.
As of Jan. 1, 2000, a new state law will require sellers, servers, sales clerks, door
personnel, managers -- anyone who interacts with consumers of alcohol and tobacco -- to hold a
permit to serve or sell the products. The course is a necessary step in obtaining the permit, said
Amy Livingston, director of Southeastern's Program Development and Evaluation Office. Those
without a valid permit are subject to fines.
Southeastern is offering the two-hour course, designed by Gideon Enterprises, through its
Continuing Education Program. Tuition is $25 and classes will be held at the SLU University
Center in Hammond and at the Covington Center on Jefferson Ave. in Covington.
In September and October, the course will be offered each Tuesday at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
at the University Center and at 6 p.m. at the Covington Center and every Thursdays at 2 p.m. in
both locations. (The course will not be offered on Sept. 7.)
To register for a class, call 504-549-2301 or 1-800-256-2771.
