SLU CREATIVE WRITER'S GROUP SPONSORS WORKSHOP, RETREAT
HAMMOND -- The Southeastern Louisiana University Creative Writer's Group is
sponsoring a Writer's Workshop and Retreat from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Oct. 11 at Rosaryville's
Spiritual Life Center west of Ponchatoula.
Cost is $25 and lunch is included. Advance reservations are requested and may be made
by calling 549-3455 or 549-3453. The all-day retreat will feature in-depth instruction on
technique, style, and creativity. Guest presenters will include
Phillip Routh, winner of honorable mention at the Deep South Writer's Conference
and member of the St. Tammany Writer's Group. He has been published in "Louisiana
Literature," "Third Coast," "Verbatim," and the "South Carolina Review."
Andree Cosby, originator and emcee of literary readings in St. Tammany Parish, and a
local favorite at poetry readings in and around New Orleans. With an master's degree from
Southeastern, she is a public school educator and a member of the St. Tammany Writer's Group.
A collection of her poetry is entitled "A Brutal Rush of Grace."
Jan Chabreck, an educator in St. Tammany public schools who also is a Southeastern
graduate. Her stories have appeared in "Verbatim," "Kansas Quarterly," and a collection of her
stories is entitled "Leftovers."
Tana Bradley, a Southeastern American literature professor and graduate who is a
short fiction writer and member of the St. Tammany Writer's Group.
Bev Marshall, a member of the Southeastern faculty and the St. Tammany Writer's
Group. Her collection of short stories is titled "On the Seesaw", and her stories have appeared in
"Maryland Review," "Potpourri," "Verbatim," "Family," and elsewhere.
