WOMEN'S RIGHTS WEEK CELEBRATED AT SLU MARCH 16-20
HAMMOND, LA -- Southeastern Louisiana University's Cultural Resource Management
program is sponsoring Women's Rights Week March 16-20. The week commemorates the 150th
Anniversary of the Women's Rights Movement.
Featured speakers for the week include Christina Vella author of "Intimate Enemies: The
Life of Baroness Pontalba" and Sheila Tobias, author of "Faces of Feminism, An Activist's
Reflections on the Women's Movement" and "Overcoming Math Anxiety."
Vella will speak at 3:30 pm Tuesday March 17 in the Pottle Music Recital Hall. Tobias
will talk at 10 am Wednesday March 18 at Twelve Oaks on "Overcoming Math Anxiety" and at
2:00 pm on "Faces of Feminism."
Southeastern president, Dr. Sally Clausen, is scheduled to read a proclamation at 3:00 pm
Monday March 16 at the Sims Memorial Library.
Other activities scheduled include a concert celebrating women composers, a poetry
recital, exhibits and a dance performance.
Southeastern faculty will give lectures on Women in science, the arts, nursing and in
victorian age.
