FANTASY FIGHT

GSP vs Anderson Silva

Considered to be the dream fight of the decade, MMA fans have been salivating over the thought of these two warriors mixing it up inside the Octagon for quite some time now. Both fighters are the current title holders of their respective weight divisions in the UFC with GSP as the welterweight champion and Anderson Silva dominating the middleweight division.

With both fighters being in different weight classes, it's obvious that in order for this fight to take place, either GSP needs to put on 15 pounds or Silva would have to drop to 170. The alternative is if the UFC has them fight at catchweight.

Georges St. Pierre Anderson Silva

In my opinion this is the best move. Considering that the UFC cannot have a title-for-title fight which would unify two titles of two different weight classes. That just doesn't make sense. If either fighter lost his title, he could theoretically move to the other weight class and challenge for that championship. I think that hurts credibility though. "Ok, you just lost. Now you're moving up or down in weight to fight for a title immediately following a loss?" In the UFC, nobody gets a title shot following a loss.

I think it's just a matter of time before this fight gets made but UFC President Dana White is very smart and will book this mega event at the perfect time in the perfect place. Just imagine this fight as the main event in the Rogers Center (formerly the SkyDome) in Toronto, or better yet the Maracanã, the largest stadium in Brazil?
