Dr. Sam Hyde, director of the Center for Southeast Louisiana Studies, will
be the guest of WWL radio's Garland Robinette at 2:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20.
Dr. Hyde will discuss the past, present and future of the Manchac Swamp and
the center's film, "The Manchac Swamp: Man-made Disaster in Search of
Resolution."
The film, which details the historical degradation of the Manchac Swamp
ecosystem, was recently shown in Hollywood as part of the lineup for the
New York International Film Festival. It debuted locally last April and
aired on Louisiana Public Broadcasting stations on Sept. 3. The film is the
product of more than two years of research conducted by the center staff
through grants from the university's Lake Pontchartrain Basin Research
Program and the Environmental Protection Agency.
To listen, tune in to AM 870 or FM 105.3.
