African-Americans in Louisiana Higher Education (AALHE) was born from the need for university and college professionals to have a mechanism to enhance their professional development and network with others throughout the state.
 
 

AALHE MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of African-Americans in Louisiana Higher Education is to enhance the professional development of its membership by:
 
 

A) Providing an effective organizational, administrative, and management structure

B) Promoting the higher education profession

C) Improving the skills of higher education professionals

D) Promoting and supporting public policy and legislation which enhances the higher education profession

E) Contributing to the advancement and dissemination of research and knowledge in higher education

 
WHO BELONGS TO AALHE?

Members of AALHE include university and college professionals in administrative, faculty, and staff positions who are utilizing their education to promote equality for African-Americans, to promote education and self-development, to work towards positive societal change, and to serve as positive role models for students.
 
 

WHO CAN JOIN AALHE?

Membership in AALHE is open to anyone who is employed in the university/college system, which includes foundations, boards, and institutes. In principle and practice, we value and work toward a diverse membership. Membership is not by invitation, but rather by the desire to join an organization that offers programs that foster personal-growth by enhancing skills and making significant contributions to society.
 
 

AALHE SUPPORTS HIGHER EDUCATION PROFESSIONALS THROUGH:

The annual Forum in April which consists of professional development workshops which provide an opportunity for the therapeutic introspection, information on statewide and national trends in higher education, a networking reception, and an opportunity to travel to colleges and universities, throughout the state.
