School matinees are a wonderful way for children to experience the joy of live performing arts. The Columbia Theatre’s school matinee tickets for accredited schools and education programs vary in price and usually include:
- Reduced ticket prices for children and chaperones
- Complimentary tickets for teachers and school employees
- Pre-assigned section seating for each school.*
*Seating arrangements are coordinated in advance. We do our best to seat schools together but timeliness of the reservations and the number of students are considerations.
School Tickets
Reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Reserve your tickets by clicking here. (Please note that you must pay for the original number of seats reserved. This number may not be reduced.) The deadline for payment (for full number of seats reserved) is five working days before the performance. Checks must be made out to Southeastern Louisiana University. Cash is not accepted. Payments may not be split. Schools in Tangipahoa Parish must pay in person. Other parishes may mail payments, but they must arrive in time to mail wristbands to the school.
Wristbands Are Your Tickets!
The Columbia Theatre uses a wristband system to account for the number of students attending school matinees. Upon payment, wristbands will be issued for the total number of seats purchased. Each person (students and adults) must wear a wristband to be allowed entry into the Columbia Theatre’s Hainkel Hall. This policy will be strictly enforced… NO EXCEPTIONS. Please bring your printed confirmation with you as well.
Cancellation
Cancellations are not accepted. Full payment for the original number of seats reserved is expected.
Performance Guidelines
The Columbia Theatre loves sharing its performances with students, and considers it a privilege to teach performing arts protocol to youngsters who may never have attended a live performance. Use this document as an introduction to the performing arts etiquette with your students before arriving at the theatre.

Bus Guidelines
Students generally arrive at the Columbia Theatre in school buses. In order to keep our young patrons safe, we ask that you give these guidelines to the bus driver so that he/she will know where to safely park, unload and load the students.
