Southeastern's Honors Club was organized in Fall 2003 to support and encourage current Honors students and incoming Honors students. Enrollment in the club is automatic upon enrollment in the Honors Program. The club's purpose is to provide an additional support base for students who choose to take Honors level courses.
Our meetings are informal and provide an opportunity for Honors students to help each other through peer mentoring, tutoring, open discussion, and venting. The Honors Club frequently works in conjunction with the Honors Program and provides assistance for Honors Program events and endeavors. Whether you need help on an essay or just want to have fun and talk, we encourage you to be an active member of the Honors Club and take advantage of the opportunities to network with other students on your academic level. The only requirement for membership in the Honors Club is being a member of the Honors Program. No dues are required for membership.
Our activities include meetings every other Tuesday and Wednesday at the
Honors Center, Face to Face sessions where we meet our Honors professors on a personal level, FYI sessions where students get inside information on important college issues, workshops where Honors students teach incoming Honors students about writing a good English paper and how to plan ahead, fundraisers such as a bake sale, and socials to spend time with other Honors students and have fun.
This semester we have a lot of great things planned. We have begun our freshman mentoring program, we have two very informative workshops planned, and we have quite a few fun social events planned. Come out to our meetings and see what we are all about and find out what being in the Honors Club can do to make your college experience better.
