Louisiana Campus Compact envisions a state in which
• concepts such as Service-Learning, leadership, volunteerism, and activism are united with educational goals in order to develop college and university graduates who are prepared not only for a career but also for life as informed and involved citizens at the local, national, and international levels, and
• community partnerships for civic engagement are formed by all educational institutions to attract and educate students, faculty members, and staff members about the important role their united efforts can make toward strengthening the lives of individuals, families, campuses, communities, states, and the nation.
About Louisiana Campus Compact
LaCC became the 30th member of Campus Compact at the June 2004 meeting of the Louisiana Board of Regents. At this meeting, the LaCC affiliation agreement was signed with National Campus Compact; however, efforts had been underway since July 2002 to establish Louisiana Campus Compact. These efforts were spearheaded by Loyola University with many other Louisiana colleges and universities demonstrating their interest. The Louisiana Campus Compact is hosted by Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana.
Campus Compact is a coalition of nearly 1,100 college and university presidents — representing some five million students — who are committed to fulfilling the public purposes of higher education. Campus Compact's membership includes public, private, and two- and four-year institutions across the spectrum of higher education. Member institutions put into practice the ideal of civic engagement by sharing knowledge and resources with their communities, creating economic development initiatives, and supporting service and service-learning efforts in key areas such as literacy, health care, hunger, homelessness, the environment, and senior services. Campus Compact National Office is located in Boston, MA.
