Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA)

Louisiana Campus Compact's AmeriCorps*VISTA Project has been developed to help address issues related to poverty statewide. Under this initiative, LaCC member institutions host VISTAs who work to develop and strengthen service-learning infrastructures on their campuses. The VISTAs help facilitate campus and community collaborations and support service-learning courses that partner with those community agencies which are working to combat poverty and serve those affected by poverty. The LaCC VISTA Project is guided by an Advisory Council comprised of VISTA Members, Service-Learning faculty members, and statewide agencies working with these constituencies.

Learn and Serve Higher Education
Louisiana Campus Compact administers its Learn and Serve program in conjunction with Kentucky Campus Compact. Learn and Serve Higher Education supports and encourages service-learning in colleges and universities throughout the United States and has enabled over three million students to make meaningful contributions to their communities while building their academic and civic skills. By engaging our nation's young people in service-learning, Learn and Serve America instills an ethic of lifelong community service. Louisiana Campus Compact currently administers programs at Louisiana State University, Louisiana Tech University, and River Parishes Community College.

Ready Campus

Ready Campus was designed to strengthen preparation for and response to regional or national emergencies. The model is being implemented in Louisiana in order to assist campuses in preparing campus facilities for emergencies, training campus volunteers to respond in emergencies, and providing college students with service-learning opportunities to prepare them to be crisis-ready civic leaders of the future.  Louisiana Campus Compact’s Ready Campus project was funded in 2008 by the Louisiana Board of Regents and is currently being funded through Citizen Corps, a program administered by the Governor's Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness.

Carter Academic Service Entrepreneur (CASE)

Louisiana Campus Compact is a host of the Carter Academic Service Entrepreneur Grant program, which is administered by the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Partnership Foundation. The CASE initiative seeks to foster academic-service learning at American colleges and universities and is a student-led initiative. Student grantees partner with a non-profit organization and work independently, though guided by a Faculty Advisor, to meet a need of the organization through the utilization of the CASE funding and the student's specialized disciplinary knowledge. In 2009 Louisiana Campus Compact is presenting six $1,000 CASE grants to Louisiana students from around the state.
