The Southeastern Channel recently won six first-place Mark of Excellence awards in television, more than any other school at the annual Region 12 (Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee) convention of the Society of Professional Journalists. Included was "Best Overall Television Newscast" for "Northshore News".

The Southeastern Channel has once again been named "Best College TV Station in the South" by the Southeast Journalism Conference covering all universities in Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia and North Carolina. The Channel also won First Place for "Best College Video News Program in the South" with "Northshore News". Student anchor/reporters Chrissy Carter and Jessica LeBlanc were also honored.

For the eighth time in the past eight years the Southeastern Channel has brought home an Emmy Award, more than any college TV station in the southern United States. Steve Zaffuto won for "Commercial" with the university image campaign, "Strength, Endurance, Tradition". The Southeastern Channel has received 31 Emmy nominations in the past eight years.
